June - All students who will be in the 7th grade or the 9th grade next year and wish to participate in athletics must have a physical before the start of the upcoming school year. During the month of June, the St. Joseph Clinic in Franklin will be offering free physicals. In order to take advantage of this offer, please call the clinic at 828-4540 to make an appointment - they do not take walk-ins. After June, there will be a charge for physicals. |

Little Dribblers National Tournament |
The 2008 National Little Dribblers Tournament was held in Franklin April 16-19. Congratulations to all teams, coaches and volunteers on a successful tournament. |

"A Night Among the Stars" - U.I.L. Banquet |
The 2nd annual banquet to honor Reynolds Elementary and Franklin Middle School U.I.L. participants was held on Monday, Feb. 25, 2008 at the Pridgeon Community Center. Around 400 UIL participants, their families, coaches, teachers and administrators were present for "A Night Among the Stars." |

Pennies for Patients |
Our school recently participated in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Pennies for Patients program which gives students the opportunity to raise funds for blood cancer research and support for patients. We are proud to announce the results of this project. Sixth grade collected a total of $697.79, seventh grade collected $235.63 and the eighth grade brought in a total of $299.94. The grand total collected by Franklin Middle School students was $1233.36. We are so proud of our students for their hard work and efforts to experience the powerful feeling of making a difference in the lives of others. |

Pennies for Patients |
To kick off the Pennies for Patients drive at FMS, Sara Lawrence spoke to the students and answered questions about her experience with cancer. Sara, a freshman at FHS, recently completed treatment for Hodgkins Lymphoma and is currently in remission. |

6th Grade D.A.R.E. Graduation |
FMS sixth grade students have been participating in the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program that gives kids the skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs, gangs, and violence. D.A.R.E. is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches students how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives. Our 6th graders at FMS graduated from the D.A.R.E. program on Wednesday, January 23rd. Congratulations on completing the program, sixth grade! |

FMS Students Place at Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art Contest |
Congratulations go out to Art students in Ms. Dunn's classes for their success at the recent Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art Contest. Buck B. won Best of Show. Other finalists were Cole S. and Krista S. Receiving blue ribbons were Jeb H., Seth K., and Kenneth E. A red ribbon was awarded to Alexander (A.J.) G. FMS Student Council Delivers Shoeboxes |
Student Council members and their homeroom classmates collected toys and other personal items for children of all ages and delivered them in shoeboxes to St. Joseph Hospital. |

Franklin Middle School Wins U.I.L. District Championship! |

One Act Play Wins 3rd Place at District Meet |
FMS One Act Play students placed third at the U.I.L. meet recently. Also, two cast members made the All-Star cast, two made Honorable Mention and one student received the Crew Award (see UIL link for results). Congratulations to everyone! |

Food Drive-Tuff-Man Turkey Contest |
The Franklin Middle School FCS and NJHS sponsored a Tuff Turkey Contest for the annual food drive to benefit Care, Inc., the local food pantry. The results are in.. "Loud Luna" and the 7th grade finished in third place with 306 items, "Kid Kreger" and the 6th grade ended up in second place with 883 items, and "Macho Miller" who represented the 8th grade was the winner with 1037 items. Franklin Middle School collected a total of 2226 items. Great Job, FMS! |

Dancing with the Stars at FMS |
