Franklin Boys' Golf Team Headed to State Tournament
The Franklin High School boys' golf team qualified for the State Golf Tournament last week in San Marcos by placing second in the Regional Tournament. The boys were tied for second and won in a playoff to advance to the state tournament. The Boys 2A State Golf Tournament will be held May 5-6, 2008 at the Roy Kizer Golf Course in Austin, Texas with a tee time of 7:30 a.m. on both days.

Softball to Face East Bernard in Area Playoff Game
The Lion softball team will face East Bernard in a best-of-three game series in the area playoff round. Game 1 is set for 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2008 at Navasota High School. Game 2 is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Navasota High School with the third game to follow if necessary. East Bernard defeated Vanderbilt Industrial on Saturday night in Shiner to advance to the area round, while the 26AA District Champion Lions received a bye in the bi-district round.
Franklin Tennis Players to Defend Titles
Three Franklin High School tennis players will be in Austin on May 5-6 to defend their state tennis titles. Senior Austin K. will vie for his fourth singles championship and juniors Jake R. and Kendra C. will be going for their second mixed doubles title. Austin captured the Region 4 Championship at Texas State University on Thursday, April 24, 2008 with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Trey H. from Jourdanton High School. Kendra and Jake faced district foe Lexington for the championship, winning 6-0, 6-0.

Franklin High School Sprinter Named Top Athlete
Janie N. was named the top athlete in the Varsity Girls Division of the District 26AA Track Meet. Janie scored 31 points nudging out Lexington's Nicole K. by one point. Janie advances to regional in the triple jump, 100-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles, and the 4x400 meter relay.
FHS Track Qualifies 18 For Regional Meet
The FHS Track Team qualified 18 athletes for the Region III Regional Track and Field Meet to be held April 25-26, 2008 at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.

Softball Team Preparing for Playoffs
The Franklin softball team traveled to Fairfield on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 to take on Fairfield in a warm-up game. The Lions defeated Fairfield 9-5.

Franklin, the District 26-AA champion, received a bye in the first round of the playoffs and will face the East Bernard vs. Vanderbilt Industrial winner next week in the area round.
Boys First, Girls Second in District Golf
The Franklin Boys' and Girls' Golf Teams competed at the District Golf Tournament on April 2, 2008. The boys had two teams competing, placing first and third. The girls' team finished in second place. The boys' first place team and the girls' team will advance to the regional competition in San Marcos on April 21-22, 2008. District Tennis Results
The District Tennis Tournament was hosted by Somerville High School on Monday, March 31, 2008 and Tuesday, April 1, 2008. Seven players from Franklin will advance to the Regional Tournament in San Marcos on April 23-24, 2008. Please click the Download button to see the complete results.
Franklin High School One Act Play Competes

FHS Greenhouse
The Franklin High School greenhouse is in full bloom. The greenhouse is currently filled with plants. The FHS Life Skills Class plants and cares for the many plants. They are growing scented geraniums for FEZ Greenhouses in Marlin as well as many other varieties of plants. Faculty advisers are Briscoe Cain, Jennifer Jarrott, Vanessa Tebo, and Justin Tomascik.
